The Affordable Care Act was signed into law in March 2010 and is commonly known as Obamacare. The ACA was designed to extend health coverage to millions of uninsured Americans. The ACA expanded Medicaid eligibility, created a Health Insurance Marketplace, and prevented insurance companies from denying coverage due to preexisting conditions.
